NEW SWEDEN and CARIBOU Ann A. Nelson 91, wife of the late Emil Nelson, died June 22, 2004, at Caribou. She was born May 27, 1913, in New Sweden, the daughter of Oscar and Kjersti (Sandburg) Pearson. During World War II, Mrs. Nelson was employed in a munitions factory in Massachusetts. She also lived in Norway, Maine for a number of years, where she was employed in the furniture manufacturing business. Following her retirement in 1977, she returned to Caribou. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in New Sweden, and will be remembered by many for her independent spirit. She is survived by her son, Gerald Nelson of New Sweden; three grandchildren, Ken, Kerri and Chuck; and two great-grandchildren, Krystal and Heather; a brother-in-law, Ralph Ostlund; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Pearson, both of New Sweden; two special nieces, Bonnie Killion and Judy Brewster; and a special nephew, Bert Johnson. Mrs. Nelson was predeceased by her husband, Emil, in 1943; and by three brothers and two sisters. A celebration of Mrs. Nelson’s life will be held 4 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Nelson may do so through the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church Building Fund.
