DANBURY, Conn. – Ann Nancy (Doyle) Kinney, 81, died Feb. 10, 2006, at Danbury Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born July 6, 1924, in Worcester, Mass., the only child of Thomas and Isabel (Hughes) Doyle. Nancy graduated from the first women’s class of Clark University located in Worcester, Mass. After graduation she taught high school English for six years in Maine. She married and they moved to Danbury, Conn. in 1951. After her four children were grown, she was a substitute teacher in Danbury and Brookefield public schools and the Wooster School. Nancy was active in Saint Peter’s Parish. She was a member of the parent’s group, taught religion and worked in the thrift shop. Nancy is survived by her husband, Roland Neal Kinney of Danbury, Conn.; four children, Barbara King and her husband, Jeffrey of Seattle, Wash., Ellen Brangwynne of Rome, Joan Cifferi and her husband, Ernie, of Boca Raton, Fla. and David Kinney and his wife, Karen, of Houston, Texas. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Brian, Dallas, Jesse, Jessica, Miles, Rachel and Morgan. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Peggy Griffin, Lois Kennedy and Joanne Desmond. A gathering of friends and relatives was held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, Conn. A memorial Mass was celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Saint Peter Church, Danbury, Conn. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family and burial of Nancy’s cremains will take place in the spring in the family plot in Oakfield Cemetery, Oakfield.
