ELLSWORTH – Amos William Wilson, 88, died Feb. 2, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Denniston, the son of William and Linda (Graffte) Wilson. Amos was a subcontractor for Bangor Hydro Electric Company for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart in September 1943 and two Good Conduct medals. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara (Grindle) Wilson; sons, William Nelson Wilson and Lawrence Amos Wilson and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew and wife, Miranda and Christopher Wilson; one great-grandson, Dennis Carter Wilson, all of Ellsworth; a sister, Irene West of Orrington; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, ME with Pastor Rolf A. Hellum officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions in Amos’s memory may be made to the V.F.W. Post No. 109, Veterans Relief Fund, PO Box 281, Ellsworth, 04605.
