HOULTON – Aaron Hacker Putnam, 87, died March 9, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Houlton, the son of Aaron A. and Marie (Hacker) Putnam. Aaron attended Houlton schools and graduated from the University of Maine, with a degree in engineering and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at the university. He was employed by the U.S. government, as an engineer, working in many parts of the U.S., England and Germany. He was a member of Houlton Unitarian Universalist Church. Hacker is survived by his brother, John Putnam; his two sisters, Maria Louise Putnam and Elizabeth Putnam, all of Houlton; two stepsons, Mark Ciaraldi and his wife, Sarah, of Manchester, Conn., and Stephen Ciaraldi and his wife, May-Britt, and their son, Thomas, all of Jakaarta, Indonesia; stepdaughter, Susan Speese and her children, Benjamin and Savannah, all of Richmond, Va. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Letty Jean Putnam. At Hacker’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Interment will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.
