DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy received some $200,000 in gifts and grants during the fiscal year ending June 30, according to Headmaster Raymond P. Webb.

This represents giving by 439 alumni and friends.

The school said in a news release this week that its annual giving campaign closed with nearly $70,000 raised to help with purchase of microscopes, power supply units, musical instruments, books and other immediate needs at the academy.

The William J. Gallion Family Foundation contributed $50,000 to create the William J. Gallion Family Academic Aspirations Scholarship Fund in memory of Mary Catherine and June Gallion. The income from the fund will be used to help a boarding or day student attend the academy.

Everett W. Johnston and Herbert and Carol Johnston Pearl have endowed the Everett and Evelyn Johnston Horizon Scholarship Fund. Both Everett and Evelyn were members of the Class of 1928.

This past year, Molly Cyr of Dover-Foxcroft, a member of the Class of 2009, was able to study abroad with the help of the Horizon Scholarship Fund.

The Foxcroft Academy Parent auction committee chaired by Dan and Beth Steinke of Dover-Foxcroft raised some $7,000 during the Play of the Ponies auction held last spring.

“We are delighted with the community and alumni support we received this year,” Webb said.
