17 indicted in Somerset County

SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A man and woman from Pittsfield suspected in an armed robbery last month were among 17 people indicted Friday by a grand jury in Somerset County.

Robert E. Burt, 35, and Elizabeth Bernasconi Tansino, 41, each were indicted on a single charge of Class A robbery related to an incident on Aug. 23 at Deer Hill Apartments in Pittsfield.

The couple reportedly was visiting friends that afternoon when Tansino attacked another female visitor. It wasn’t clear what provoked the attack, but Tansino reportedly demanded the woman’s purse while Burt pulled out a knife to keep other visitors at bay.

Both the robbery victim and a male guest were slightly injured by the knife but did not require hospitalization, according to local police.

The pair was arrested shortly after the incident and taken to Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan. They since have been released on bail but could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

Joshua W. Karr, 20, Clinton, burglary, theft.

Caleb A. Bois, 19, Fairfield, burglary, theft.

Scott J. Mushero, 20, Oakland, burglary, theft.

Jeffrey J. Warger, 42, Norridgewock, burglary, theft.

Nathan R. Avery, 25, Norridgewock, two counts of burglary, three counts of theft.

Jeremy I. Hills, 34, Concord, sexual abuse of a minor, violation of a protection order.

Anthony C. Merrow Sr., 47, Hartland, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, marijuana cultivation, theft.

Jason A. Horne, 21, Augusta, burglary, theft, criminal mischief.

Scott J. Parker, 33, Skowhegan, forgery.

Lance F. Silvia, 28, Skowhegan, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Joshua A. Lieberman, 19, Moscow, robbery.

Frank H. Allen Jr., 23, Skowhegan, two counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Andrew Burton, 22, Strong, three counts of burglary, three counts of theft.

Justin T. Rundlett, 23, Jay, four counts of burglary, four counts of theft.

All defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignments at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at Somerset County Superior Court.
