SANGERVILLE, Maine — A local man who was struck by a motor vehicle Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a juvenile was arrested for domestic assault.
Varland Gray, 41, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft where he was treated for rib injuries. After his release from the hospital later in the day, Gray was taken to the Piscataquis County Jail. He posted bail of $250 and was released the same night. He is expected to make his initial court appearance on the charge on Sept. 15 in 13th District Court.
Maine State Trooper Trevor Snow said charges were “likely” to be filed against Vanessa Rolfe, 27, who struck Gray with her GMC pickup truck. Snow said Rolfe heard the altercation between Gray and a juvenile on Flanders Hill Road at about 2:20 p.m. and she drove her vehicle there in an attempt to stop the fighting, striking Gray in the process.
