Former town official pleads not guilty to stealing

The Associated Press

PARIS, Maine — A former deputy town clerk in Waterford has pleaded not guilty to a charge that she embezzled about $150,000 from the town over a six-year period ending this year.

Jennifer Morin, 35, of Waterford entered her plea Friday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Morin served as deputy clerk for 10 years before resigning Feb. 3, the day before the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation.

If convicted, Morin could face up to 10 years in prison.
