Maine’s senior senator weighs in on VP choice

PORTLAND, Maine – Sen. Olympia Snowe says Sarah Palin is a good match for Sen. John McCain in his bid for president.

Snowe and her husband, former Gov. John McKernan, told WGME-TV from the Republican National Convention in Minnesota on Wednesday that Palin is a compelling character.

They said she has a reputation of bucking the Republican establishment in her home state of Alaska, where she’s governor, and not being afraid to take on tough issues.

Snowe also said Palin’s political experience and family issues are fair game for the media, especially since she is a political unknown.
