BANGOR, Maine&nbsp- More than 1,700 Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers found themselves without power Tuesday night due to thunderstorms in Hancock, Penobscot and Washington counties, according to a press release from the company.

Customers in Bangor, East Corinth, Southwest Harbor, Tremont and Orono reported power outages, but all available crews were called to work on restoring power. The majority of the outages — about 1,200 — were in Hancock County.

Bangor Hydro spokeswoman Susan Faloon said in the release that she expected the lights to be back on for most customers by later Tuesday night, but added that more thunderstorms throughout the night could cause more outages and delay restoration time.
