BANGOR, Maine - A Glenburn man currently awaiting trial on weapons theft charges was arrested late Tuesday afternoon on outer Hammond Street under suspicion that he may have had guns in the vehicle he was driving, Penobscot County Sheriff’ s Deputy Mark Lloyd said.
Brett Vigue, 19, is facing class B charges for stealing guns from his father and grandmother, according to police. When he attempted to sell one of the guns Saturday, July 26, at Frati’ s Pawn Shop in Bangor, the owner recognized that the guns were stolen and refused to purchase the weapons.
He reported the incident to police, and Vigue was pulled over and taken into custody Tuesday on outer Hammond Street near the Target Industrial Circle.
A quick sweep of the maroon GMC Envoy didn’ t turn up any weapons, but Lloyd said the Sheriff’ s Office would continue to investigate.
A female who also was in the vehicle was not believed to be connected in any way to the weapons charges, according to police.
More information may be available after police thoroughly search the vehicle.
